Antlers: Evolution or Creation?

Antlers are one of the most unique features in the natural and biological world. Found only on mammals and in particular in the deer family varieties, the origin of these unique features is difficult for anyone to explain without a special creation, as promoted by those who believe in the Creation Model, where all life was created during the Creation Week 6,000 years ago. Antlers are an extension of the skull and are composed of pure bone, specifically one solid piece of bone, not fragments connected together. The antlers are usually shed and regrown annually, unlike horns, which are not shed. Antlers are in contrast to horns seen on other mammals, which are not one solid piece but two pieces that are never shed and continue to grow. Antlers are most commonly found on male versions, but some deer and caribou types feature antlers on females. Those females that have antlers are usually smaller than the male antlers. The antlers have two main purposes: to attract mates and for self defense. Antlers grow from an attachment on the skull called a pedicle.
Evolutionists claim that antlers evolved on deer-like mammals to replace tusks and that because some deer have both antlers and tusks, while some have only tusks with no antlers. However, evolutionists can't explain how such elaborate and unique designs that make up the large antlers seen in the wild originated and how these mammals grew such features. The growth of antlers cannot be some random accident that occurred over millions of years. Creationists explain that antlers were part of a unique design by an Intelligent Designer. The unique genetic material given to these animals allows these antlers to grow and regrow during the animal's life. Why do only a small handful of animals, namely the deer family, in the biological world have antlers? No other animal could evolve these antlers other than the deer varieties? Antlers are also another example of how unique species were given what they needed to survive in the world by a Creator who cared for them. The antlers are uniquely needed by the deer kinds in order to perform certain functions. Not only is the creation model a better explanation for the origin of antlers, the presence of large antlers with elaborate patterns is evidence of a creative design from an Intelligent Designer.
