The Levitical Law given by God through Moses and the Levites in the Book of Leviticus 17:11 describes how the blood makes atonement for the soul:
11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. 12 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood. Leviticus 17:11-12.
The law was fulfilled as the promised Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ later paid the final price and became the final sacrifice for the salvation of humanity.
The description and instruction in Leviticus 17:11 continues the instructions through Leviticus 16:27, where the bullock and the goat are offered for atonement. Also in chapter 14 of Leviticus, the cleansing of skin diseases is administered through atonement of the blood. Chapter 23 of Leviticus discusses instructions for the appointed festivals that include burnt offerings in verse 36.
