The Book of Mark- The Gospel of Mark
by Owen Borville
The Book of Mark is the second of four listed New Testament books focused on the history of Jesus Christ and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The book is attributed to Mark the Evangelist or John Mark, who is also attributed to founding the Church of Alexandria. The Book of Mark is also the second of three synoptic gospels, which are noted for their similarity: Matthew, Mark, and Luke. The three synoptic gospels differ in style and content from John (not John the Baptist), the fourth gospel book. The birth of Jesus account is absent from Mark's gospel, and is found in Matthew and Luke's gospels. Mark's gospel is the shortest, most concise gospel and some believe it is the oldest and that Matthew and Luke's gospel were inspired by Mark's gospel, possibly around 70 A.D.
