Charles Darwin and His Incorrect Observations

English naturalist Charles Darwin is considered a hero by the mainstream academic establishment and the scientific community. His ideas about natural selection and evolution revolutionized the field of biology and science in general. In addition, his ideas seemingly freed science from religion, or at least many of his supporters seem to think so. Therefore, Darwin is a hero to the secular world also. The former theology student at the University of Cambridge wanted to become a clergyman but became interested in natural history and science. Darwin decided to take a break from religious studies and embark on a long voyage across the world, as he had became interested in Charles Lyell's famous work, The Principles of Geology, which laid the foundation for gradualist, uniformitarian geology in opposition to traditional biblical flood geology. During his famous voyage on the Beagle, a five-year expedition across the Atlantic to South America and the Pacific Ocean, Darwin's views on religion and science began to change from a Biblical scriptural worldview. Darwin began to doubt the basics of scripture as he observed wildlife on his voyage and eventually labeled himself as "agnostic" later in life. Darwin hypothesized that individual species evolve separately very slowly and were not part of a special creation event. Darwin's worldview gradually shifted from the biblical creation to a worldview of naturalistic origins of life on earth. His ideas were revolutionary and today the mainstream scientific worldview is based on the ideas that Darwin developed during his life.

Many question if the ideas Darwin developed during his life were racist and led to racist views around the world while even inspiring the rise of communism and Adolf Hitler. As racism and slavery did exist before Darwin and his famous 1859 work The Origin of Species, no one can claim that Darwin created racism or slavery. However, his ideas seem to promote the idea that certain races of humans are superior to others, particularly that white Europeans are superior to all other races of humans. Darwin explained in his work on natural selection that random variations in species produce more desirable genetic traits that lead to a more productive existence and that those species who produce more desirable traits have a better chance of survival and a more productive existence. Because white Europeans have been more successful economically throughout history than other ethnic groups, Darwin's ideas could be used to imply that white Europeans are "superior" to other races in the world. This analogy could have led to the rise of Adolph Hitler and his ideas of certain races being superior to others. In addition, the academic world traditionally seems to have a Euro-centric bias in addition to traditional popular culture, which commonly portrays white individuals as more attractive than non-white individuals. Darwin's work also could have influenced the rise of political socialism and communism, where a small, elite group of political leaders control the less elite mass population.

Darwin's ideas also seem to agree with Hinduism where individuals are born into a caste system and certain groups are considered "superior" to others. Therefore, Darwin's work is popular in communist nations and among Hindu nations, while the increasingly secular western, traditionally Christian nations largely and erroneously support his work. The traditional biblical worldview, however, explains that all humans are created equal by God and all life is the result of a special creation during a six-week event 6,000 years ago. Specifically, God created man in His image and is a unique creation that did not evolve from animals, while the creationist time frame does not allow for millions of years of evolution and death before the Garden of Eden. Creationists accept that while biological species can and do adapt to their environment and variation of genetic traits does occur, there is no "molecule to man" macro-evolution and each species is uniquely created by God with unique characteristics that define each species within the 6,000-year time frame.

In addition, many also attribute the moral decay of society, including sexuality, abortion, and drug usage along with general corruption in society to a cultural shift away from biblical teaching, which was greatly aided by the work of Charles Darwin and his supporters. Darwin's work led people to question the bible and its accuracy and many lost faith in the Biblical scriptures as a result of Darwin's theories.
