Cockroach Intelligent Design

The anatomy of the cockroach varies from one half inch to two inches, with some much larger, and has an oval shaped body, reddish brown to dark brown color, six legs, and antennae. Some varieties have wings. There are over 4,000 varieties of cockroaches in the world, but most of these live in natural environments such as forests, caves, burroughs, or brush. Only 30 species like to live in human dwellings. One variety of cockroach found in South America is six inches long and has a one-foot wingspan. The cockroach can climb almost any wall and ceiling. A cockroach has tiny, sharp claws at the ends of his legs that allow the insect to climb vertical surfaces, including a variety of wall materials and can walk across the ceiling using the same method. In natural environments, cockroaches provide an important service by consuming organic waste. They also act as flower pollinators. Cockroaches also increase the amount of nitrogen in the soil by eating and breaking down food material that other animals cannot digest and therefore help recycle nutrients through their waste and provide nutrients to plants. They are also a food source for other animals, and therefore not having this food source will threaten other animal types. The absence of cockroaches would have a major impact on forest ecosystems. Cockroaches are social and like to live in groups. Cockroaches have a symbiotic relationship with a special bacteria, called Bacteroides, which live inside the cockroaches fatty tissue and produce vitamins and chemicals that the cockroach needs while the bacteria lives off of the cockroaches body.

Cockroaches are called living fossils, as mainstream evolutionist scientists claim fossils date to 280 million years old and the Carboniferous era that included the dinosaurs. However, these fossils look almost identical to modern versions, so that these insects have not changed in anatomy since then and this makes a case for a much shorter time frame within the thousands of years.

The cockroach can live for a week without its head because they breathe through their body and do not need their mouth or head to breathe. However, they need their mouth to drink water and will eventually die of thirst without their mouth. The cockroach can go a month without food, but only a week without water, and commonly live in warm, dark, moist areas. The cockroach will eat almost anything, including plant and animal material. Cockroaches can hold their breath for 40 minutes. Cockroaches can run up to three miles per hour and make sharp turns quickly. For their size, that is incredibly fast. Baby cockroaches are the size of a speck of dust and can run almost as fast as their parents.

Cockroaches can cause disease, allergies, asthma attacks, spread bacteria and germs to humans as they feed on waste products, trash, and food, and leave germs and droppings in their path.

The Hissing Cockroach of Madagascar lives on the forest floor. Hissing cockroaches have specially modified spiracles or breathing pores from their abdomen. If they expel air from them quickly, it produces the hissing noise. This is the only known insect that can do this. They hiss for communication. This is one of the largest cockroach varieties at 5 to 7 centimeters in length. Each Madagascar hissing cockroach has its own characteristic sound, and the cockroaches can distinguish between each other's hisses. Males are aggressive and fight with other males. Females unusually give live births, unlike most cockroaches that lay eggs. Males have long horns behind the head while females only have small bumps. Because the spiracles are involved in respiration, this method of sound production is more typical of the respiratory sound made by the vertebrates. In contrast, most other insects produce sound by rubbing body parts (e.g. crickets) or vibrating a membrane (e.g. cicada). Therefore, the hissing sound ability is unique among insects and is part of a unique design. This uniqueness makes its origin and evolution more difficult to explain and gives evidence for the creation model and Intelligent Design.
