Elephant evolution or creation?
The elephant: Is there any animal on Earth like this one? How does the evolutionist explain the origin of the elephant? Not only with its large size and being the largest land animal on Earth, how does one explain the long trunk of the elephant? What other animal on Earth has such a feature? The more we study the elephant, the more we learn of its uniqueness and how it was part of a grand design. What about its large ears? Its its ivory tusks and its flat feet with toes? The uniqueness is evident and is part of a Grand Design.
African elephants are the largest variety and can reach a height of three meters while weighing between 4,000 to 7,500 kg. Asian elephants are a little smaller on average compared to the African variety and their ears are also smaller than the African version. The long elephant tusks are made of ivory while the long trunk is used for smell and to grab food. The elephant's trunk is actually part of its upper lip. All African elephants grow tusks but only the Asian male elephant grow tusks while the female version does not. The elephant diet is mainly plant based, including grass and fruit. Elephants are becoming endangered today as humans kill elephants for their ivory-rich tusks. The Asian elephant is currently more endangered than the African version.
Many associate the elephant with the mammoth, however the mammoth had many of the same features of the modern elephant. With the exception of the thicker hair, the mammoth was anatomically very similar to the modern elephant, including its size. Mammoths were about the same size as today's elephants, contrary to what is commonly thought. Most believe that the thick hair was an adaptation to the colder weather of Siberia, however this adaptation can fit within the creation model and does not imply molecule to man evolution. The creation model explains that animal species can adapt to environmental conditions, but that this ability to adapt was part of their unique design and was installed inside their genetic code at their creation during Creation Week. One of the few differences with the modern elephant and the mammoth in addition to the thicker hair was their longer tusks, which could extend up to 16 feet. However, this is within the realm of adaptation and does not prove molecule to man macroevolution. The mammoth skin had similar thickness to modern elephants, further supporting the creation model that explains adaptations within a unique creation 6,000 years ago and that unique species or "kinds" remain kinds and that organic molecules do not evolve into man, even if there was 4.6 billion years (which is not true, according to the Biblical timescale). The mastodon was also another variety similar to the mammoth and elephant which lived in North America and became extinct.
