GEOLOGIC EVIDENCE FROM EARTH’S ROCK LAYERS AND FOSSILS
Earth's sedimentary rock layers were deposited around the world during the Genesis Flood about 4,500 years ago, according to the creationist model, producing many preserved fossils. Fossils preserved inside the sedimentary layers around the world give great evidence of a catastrophic world-wide flood. About 95 percent of fossils are of marine origin and most are found on continents in fossil assemblages, including on top of the tallest mountain peaks on earth such as Mount Everest. Most clams open up when they die, however on Mount Everest we find clams buried and fossilized in closed position. This closed position indicates that these clams were buried alive and fossilized suddenly by a catastrophic event, which creationists believe is the global flood described in the Book of Genesis. Many other types of marine fossils are also found preserved on Mount Everest after its rapid uplift. Marine fossils are also found buried together with fossilized land animals, indicating that flood waters came from the oceans onto the continents. Fossil assemblages commonly contain a diverse selection of plants and animals from different habitats and environments, indicating the large scale of the Genesis Flood. Evolutionists and old-earth advocates believe in catastrophic events, along with transgressions and regressions of sea level rise and fall, subsidence and uplift of the land surface by tectonic forces. However, evolutionists want millions of years in between sediment layers and these geologic events, which is hard to explain. A better explanation is that all of the sediment layers were deposited at once during a global flooding event. It is unlikely that fossils have been deposited in sediment layers over millions of years at a rate of a few inches per year. A more likely scenario is rapid deposition by catastrophic flood deposits, and perfectly preserved fossils found around the world indicate rapid burial and deposition. The fossil record provides strong evidence of the young history of the earth and does not support millions of years of evolution. The fossils preserved inside the earth's rock layers are proof of the global flood occurrence less than 5,000 years ago. In addition, extinction does not prove evolution as many species have gone extinct within the last 6,000 years, many as a result of the Flood and others have became extinct after the Flood due to natural environmental processes or by the activities of man.
