Hypocrisy of Pro-Evolution Christians

Traditionally throughout the history of Christianity, virtually all adherents of the faith accepted the Biblical timescale of the heavens and the Earth, including the six-day creation event and the 6,000 year old Earth and universe. However, within the last 200 years, Christians have gone astray, accepting a non-Biblical doctrine that includes a natural origin for life, the Earth, and the Universe emerging spontaneously over billions of years. Christians have even tried to fit the billions of years into the Bible and claim that the Christian faith is compatible with today's mainstream science, which overwhelmingly accepts the billions of years model. It is all in the name of convenience for everyone to comply with mainstream science, despite only having accepted the billions of years model for the last 200 years. Before the 19th century, most believed in the young Earth, even mainstream science and the concept of billions of years was a foreign concept. But gradually naturalists and the church leaders began to question the 6,000 year time scale of the Bible and propose longer ages for the origin of the universe beginning in the late 18th century and early 19th century. However, the question remains: Why do so many Christians today accept the billions of years model for origins?
Why is believing in the six-day creation and 6,000 year earth so hard to believe? Is it because we have been taught about the theory of evolution and billions of years? Mainstream television programs focusing on science and nature mention evolution and billions of years as scientific fact, in addition to references in popular culture. When we take our families to zoos, national parks, and science museums, evolution and millions of years is described as fact with no mention of the possibility of the young earth and universe of the Bible. The public has been brainwashed with evolution and billions of years for the last 200 years and the idea of a young earth seems strange and unrealistic. It is easy to see why non-Christians and non-religious individuals reject the young earth model and accept evolution and billions of years of random origin, but why do Christians accept such a doctrine?
If Christians claim to believe the miracles of the Bible, including the miracles of Jesus Christ walking on water, feeding thousands of people, raising Lazarus from the dead, healing the sick, and eventually the Resurrection, why is the six-day creation and young earth so hard to believe? What about Moses parting the Red Sea? It is strange and even hypocritical that Christians claim to believe these miracles of Jesus Christ and the prophets but reject the Biblical young-earth model. In addition to the scriptures, there is much evidence for the young earth as described by the modern creationist movement that began in the 1960's, including flood geology and new scientific discoveries that give evidence for the young earth. The flaws of macro-evolution have been exposed by creation scientists and the evidence is substantial for the young earth and timescale. There is enough evidence already given in the last 50 years that overwhelmingly favors creation science. Therefore, there is no reason for Christians to continue to accept evolution and billions of years and it is time for Christians to come back to the Biblical worldview.
