Joseph, Jacob's Son and Jesus Have Many Parallels

In Genesis 37-50, the story of Joseph has many parallels with the story of Jesus presented in the New Testament Gospels. In Genesis 49:10, we are told that the Messiah will come from from the Tribe of Judah (the scepter will not depart from Judah).
Joseph, the son of Jacob and a Jewish Patriarch who lived over 1,700 years before Jesus Christ, had many live experiences that paralleled the life of Jesus. More is written about Joseph than anyone else in the Book of Genesis.
Joseph, the younger son of Jacob, was a shepherd, just like Jesus. Genesis 37:2.
Joseph was the firstborn of Rachel, and Jesus was the firstborn Son of God. Genesis 30:23.
Both were punished unjustly, Joseph sold into slavery, Jesus crucified, both were falsely accused. Genesis 39:14-19.
Both sold for the price of a slave. Genesis 37:28.
Both went to Egypt to avoid being killed. Genesis 37:28
Joseph helped save his people, the Israelites, by his position in Egypt (by preserving food for the famine in the land), just as Jesus would save Israel. Genesis 42.
Both were beloved by their father more than the other brothers. Genesis 37:3.
Joseph's father clothed him in a coat, just as God "clothed Jesus" in a human body. Genesis 37:3.
Joseph lived with his father before going to Egypt, just as Jesus lived with the father before coming to Earth. Genesis 37:1.
Joseph's prophetic visions were ridiculed, just as Jesus' were. Genesis 37:8.
Just as Joseph's father sent him to check on his older brothers, Jesus was sent to do the same. Genesis 37:13.
Joseph's brothers were jealous of him and wanted to kill him, just as Jesus' brothers. Genesis 37:18.
Joseph was thrown in to a pit by his brothers, just as Jesus was placed in a grave. Genesis 37:24.
Despite not committing a crime, both were placed with two other prisoners, one of which was released. Genesis 40:2-4.
Both did not speak before their accusers. Genesis 39:20
Both were young, being rejected by their older brothers. Genesis 41:46
Joseph survived the pit, and Jesus was resurrected from the grave. Genesis 37:24.
Both became servants. Genesis 39:4.
Both resisted temptation. Genesis 39:6-9.
Joseph would eventually rule over his brothers, just as Jesus would, and their brothers would bow to them. Genesis 49:26.
Both were not recognized by their brothers. Genesis 42:8.
Both forgave their brothers and those who mistreated them. Genesis 45:3-14.
Both became Royalty, and returned to their Father. Genesis 46:29.
