Moon Dust Accumulation Rate Argument Revived

Creationists have long used the argument that the lack of accumulation of meteoric dust on the moon's surface as a strong argument for its youth within the 6,000-year creation model and therefore more evidence for a young solar system in contrast to the mainstream scientists proposed four and a half billion year history of the moon and solar system. Calculations once estimated that there could be up to several hundred feet of dust on the moon's surface. Apollo astronauts were concerned that they would sink into the dust upon landing on the moon. However, upon landing on the moon's surface, the astronauts found that there was only a few inches of dust and therefore much less accumulation than previously thought. Later calculations of the rate of moon dust accumulation showed that the amount was not as much as previously thought and creationists reconsidered the argument and temporarily held back on using the moon dust argument. However, more recent research has opened up the possibility of the creationist argument concerning moon dust accumulation. Specifically, newer NASA data has showed that the accumulation rate of moon dust was ten times the previous estimates. Therefore, with a higher rate of accumulation of moon dust, the moon cannot be as old as evolutionists and mainstream scientists currently believe. Despite the difficulty of knowing the accumulation rate of surficial dust throughout the moon's supposedly four and a half billion years of history, there should simply be more moon dust than is currently observed on its surface.
