Nebula Theory Flaws and the Creation Model

Mainstream scientists describe the formation of the solar system according to nebula theory, which explains that the solar system formed from a cloud of gas and dust particles known as nebula. The theory was proposed by Pierre Simon Laplace (1749-1827). This theory is similar to other "grand theories of everything" in mainstream science including macroevolution of living things from simpler forms to more complex, plate tectonic theory, which describes the formation of the continents and mountain ranges on Earth, and the Big Bang Theory, which describes the origin of the universe. Just as these theories have major flaws, as creationists have explained, nebula theory also has major flaws that place the entire theory into question.

The flaws of nebula theory begin with interpretation, as mainstream scientists believe that the solar system formed randomly very slowly and gradually over billions of years as rotating clouds of dust and gas condensed to form the solar system, the planets, and the planetary moons. The dust and gas material flattened into a disk and rotated around a central star. The idea of a special or unique creation is never in the minds of mainstream scientists, despite the overwhelming evidence seen in the solar system today. Mainstream scientists have difficulty describing many characteristics and features of our solar system. These features are unique and are difficult to describe from random, gradual processes over long periods of time.

Mainstream scientists believe that our solar system formed around 4.5 billion years ago, including all of the planets, moons, asteroids, and the sun. Nebula theory describes clouds of dust and gas collapsing from their own gravity. The collapse causes contraction and causes the nebula clouds to spin faster and flatten into a disk. As dust particles within the rotating cloud hit each other and combine into larger particles, the smallest planetary bodies of asteroid or comet size form and these are called planetesimals. These planetesimals eventually hit each other and combine to form larger bodies including planets and moons. All asteroids, comets, and planets rotate around the sun in the same direction and within the flattened disk shape, according to the theory. The sun is formed in the center of the rotating disc as gravity pulls most of the mass of the solar system inward. Nuclear fusion occurs within the sun and produces a large amount of energy.

Problems With Nebula Theory

All of the planets in our solar system orbit around the sun in the same direction (eastward or counterclockwise), which complies with nebula theory. However, Venus and Uranus rotate retrograde on their axis in relation to their orbit around the sun (westward). This retrograde rotation violates nebula theory and is difficult for the theory to explain. In addition, while all planets orbit the sun in the same direction, many planetary moons orbit around their planet in a retrograde motion, which would violate nebula theory. A solar system outside our own was discovered by astronomers where some planets in this solar system orbit retrograde.

While astronomers have discovered over 200 planets outside our solar system, some of these planets are orbiting too close to their respective stars according to nebula theory. Scientists cannot explain how these planets exist and orbit so close to their respective stars.

Proponents of nebula theory must explain how a cloud of dust and gas can contract while the laws of physics explain that clouds of gas in space expand rather than contract.

Nebula theory predicts that the sun should be spinning much faster than it currently is and that most of the energy produced from angular momentum should be within the sun, just as most of the mass is with the sun. However, measurements show that most of the energy is with the planets.

Nebula theory predicts that the sun and the planets should be spinning in the same plane, however, the sun has an axial tilt of six to seven degrees from the plane of the ecliptic. Therefore all of the planets are rotating in the same plane but the sun itself spins on its axis at an angle to the planets, which would violate nebula theory.
