The sun appears to have an axial tilt of about six degrees from the plane of the ecliptic, or the plane or disc that all the major planets in the solar system rotate inside, but this tilt angle seems to violate mainstream models of origin.
This plane of the ecliptic is part of the mainstream scientists' model for solar system formation, or solar nebula theory, where the solar system gradually evolved from clouds of dust and gas from the original Big Bang in space more than four and a half billion years ago. These clouds of dust and gas spread out in all directions, spinning and flattening into a disc. The planets supposedly evolved and emerged from this disc by the dust and gas clumping together due to gravity.
The sun's tilt angle was difficult for mainstream scientists to explain because it violates solar nebula theory, until the proposal of a ninth planet in the solar system whose gravitational pull is believed to be causing this phenomenon. The proposal was made by scientists at Caltech in January 2016.
However, the proposal of this "ninth planet" opens up more question than answers.
Planet Nine is proposed to be a massive "unseen" planet rotating on the outer edges of the solar system, according to mathematical models. However, this planet has not been seen yet by using astronomical equipment. Some scientists doubt that it exists at all.
Planet Nine is also proposed to be up to 10 times the size of Earth and many times farther from the sun. Its orbit is believed to be inclined or tilted at an angle of 30 degrees from the orbital plane of the other planets in the solar system.
The gravitational forces caused by Planet Nine's size and tilt are believed to be causing the other planet's orbital plane to shift and causing the apparent tilt of the Sun, when the planets' orbits are actually tilted six degrees in relation to the sun, according to the proposal.
The big question in regard to Planet Nine is that if it exists with its massive size and is rotating with its tilted orbit, how did it get this way? In other words, how was Planet Nine's orbit tilted 30 degrees, while also violating solar nebula theory?
In one proposal to explain Planet Nine's tilted orbit, an adjacent solar system to ours is proposed to have altered Planet Nine's orbit by gravitational forces.
However, this has not been proven and neither has the existence of Planet Nine itself. Planet Nine could also be a remnant of the original solar system that somehow obtained a tilted orbit.
Therefore, the existence of Planet Nine is not certain and its tilted orbit is hard to explain, if it exists.
Planet Nine is also believed to be responsible for clustered icy asteroids found beyond Neptune.
Regardless of whether Planet Nine exists, creationits assert that the solar system is a unique creation in the universe by a powerful creator.
Solar nebula theory is violated regardless, whether Planet Nine exists and its large tilt must be explained or whether Planet Nine doesn't exist and the sun is actually tilted six degrees.
