The Praying Mantis is a Uniquely Designed Creature

Biology

The praying mantis is a unique insect kind specially designed by an Intelligent Designer. The mantis features six legs, two antennae, a triangular-shaped head, bulging eyes, a long, flexible neck, and its two "praying" front legs that give it its name. Many also have wings. Its head can swivel 180 degrees. The praying mantis lives for about one year and is commonly green or brown in color. The female mantis lays eggs in special sacs that she creates on tree stems and branches. Most mantises are one to six inches long in size.

Mantises live in a variety of habitats including tropical, subtropical, deserts, grasslands, and meadowlands.

The praying mantis has excellent eyes compared to other insects featuring stereo vision and they can see in 3-D. They have two big, compound eyes and have three smaller eyes in the middle of their head.

The mantis has one ear in its abdomen that can detect the high-pitched tones and echolocation of bats, one of their predators.

The praying mantis has surprising jumping ability and can precisely land on specific targets.

Eating
The praying mantis is a major carnivorous predator and eats mostly insects and always eat live animals. They also eat animals larger than themselves such as spiders, frogs, lizards, and small birds. They attack their prey quickly with their big front legs and spikes on their legs help grasp their victim. Their ability to kill birds and other larger animals is impressive. The mantis somehow knows to grab the head, pierce the skull, and eat the brains. The mantis will patiently wait for the right opportunity to grab its prey, whether it is a hummingbird or insect. One scientist commented that we are lucky that they are not our size in reference to the mantis' predatory behavior.

Cannibals: They eat each other.
The females will eat the male and siblings often eat each other. Sometimes the female will eat the male during mating.

Predators That Eat Mantises
Despite having a wide range of prey, mantises have predators that eat them such as frogs, lizards, birds, bats, monkeys, larger birds, snakes, and spiders.

Disguises
Many praying mantises can disguise themselves in a variety of ways. Mantis varieties have the appearance of leaves, sticks, and branches. Some mantises can change their color to black. Some mantis varieties look like flowers that attract unsuspecting insects, such as the orchid mantis.

Evolution
Mainstream scientists have difficulty finding an evolutionary line for the mantis, as its features and abilities are unique. Their anatomy is unique in the animal world, including their unique heads, eyes, large front legs, and much more. The closest relatives of the mantis are thought to be the cockroach and the termite, two insects that are incredibly different and unique themselves. Fossils of the mantis are dated by evolutionists up to 200 million years ago in the evolutionist time scale, an absurd age for a creature to look essentially the same for so long.

The unique features and abilities of the praying mantis showcase the intelligent design ability of a powerful Creator, unique features and abilities that could not have evolved over long periods of time.
