Trilobite eye Complexity and Creation
The trilobite was a marine invertebrate and extinct fossil that appears in Cambrian rock layers. In other words, this complex organism appears suddenly in the fossil record without evidence of transitional fossils or trace of evolution. Researchers have noted the advanced features and complex design of the trilobite body, which is well-known for its rounded, three-lobed body. The complexity of the trilobite and its sudden appearance gives a strong challenge to evolutionist ideas and gives strong evidence for the creation model. Mainstream scientists claim that the trilobite appeared in the fossil record and Cambrian layer over 500 million years ago during the period of "sudden life" or "Cambrian Explosion of Life" on Earth. How could such a complex creature appear suddenly with the first life forms on Earth unless there was a Creation event such as described in the Book of Genesis? Trilobite fossils have been found on every continent on Earth, which shows how widespread this creature was on the Earth. According to evolutionist doctrine, the Cambrian layer included the first life forms on Earth and these should be some of the simplest life forms in Earth's history. However, the trilobite was anything but simple.
One of the most complex parts of the trilobite is its eyes. As humans only have one lens in each eye, some trilobites had over 15,000 hexagonal-shaped lenses in each eye. Mainstream scientists label the trilobite eye as the oldest eye in the fossil record and the most complex of any animal species. How could one of the oldest fossil species have the most complex eyes in history? This is a serious problem for evolutionists ideas. The complex eyes helped the trilobite see in the dark seafloor marine environment, which is exactly what this species needed and another example of how God takes care of his creation and gives them what they need.
In addition to their sudden appearance in the fossil record, evolutionists have trouble explaining the sudden disappearance of the trilobite in the fossil record in the Permian Period, some 300 million years after their sudden appearance according to evolutionist chronology. How could an animal species be strong enough to exist for 300 million years and then suddenly become extinct? Creationists believe that the events of the Genesis Flood caused the trilobite to become extinct some 4,300 years ago. According to creationist chronology the rock strata are not 500 million years old, but were deposited over several months during the approximately year-long Genesis Flood. The fossils are found in different layers because of the chaotic nature of the Flood and the abilities of each organism. Species of different types were mixed into different layers. Some animals were able to move around before the fresh, water-saturated layers hardened while others were less capable and that is why we generally see larger, more capable animals higher in the rock layers. This highly advanced arthropod was not able to climb higher in the strata layers but its complex features could not have evolved so suddenly in the rock record. There must have been a special creation, as described in the Book of Genesis 6,000 years ago.
Also, notice how these fossilized trilobites are chaotically positioned, as would be as a result of deposition from a catastrophic flood:
