Whale Evolution or Creation?

Biology

Whales are sea creatures that constitute some of the largest animals of any kind on Earth. Whales measure up to 100 feet long and weigh up to 200 tons. Their tongues alone can weigh as much as an elephant. Their hearts can weigh as much as an automobile. Their size is larger than any live or fossilized animals, including the dinosaurs.

Despite living permanently in the sea, whales have the characteristics of mammals and are classified as such. Mainstream scientists insist that the whale family evolved over millions of years from land mammals. However, these scientists have difficulty explaining the process of how this evolution occurred. In addition, the fossil record does not give any evidence of such an evolutionary origin or a land-based ancestor of the whale. The largest issue in giving evidence for evolution is that the whale must have lost its legs sometime during the evolutionary process and gained a tail. Describing this process is difficult for scientists. What need would a land mammal have to lose its legs and become a permanent sea creature? Even if some reasoning could be identified, how could the legs simply "go away?" Regardless of how many generations of whales could have passed during a supposed time frame of 50 million years ago from a land mammal, how can one describe this process? The fossil record does not support this process as no specific fossils have been found that give strong evidence for this process.

Scientists classify whales within a group, or infraorder, of animals named Cetacea and are called Cetaceans. Whales are known to eat, sleep, mate, give birth, and raise their offspring all while underwater in the open ocean. Explaining how a land mammal could have adapted to this lifestyle is difficult, regardless of how much time is allowed. How can a live whale baby be born into the water without drowning? The babies are born into the water without drowning. The baby whale is born tail first to prevent drowning. How does the whale learn to feed its baby underwater? Yet, somehow it does. Evolutionists believe that anything is possible with enough time. Yet, what if these proposed amounts of time within millions of years simply never happened and there have only been a few thousand years of life on Earth?

Although whales spend most of their time underwater, they must come to the surface to breathe fresh air regularly every several minutes, which they do through their nostrils or "blow hole" located on top of their head. Some whales can hold their breath up to 90 minutes. Despite being mammals, whales have two limbs, or flippers on their sides, a dorsal fin, and one tail fin to aid in swimming underwater. How did a whale-based land ancestor gain these parts? It is inconceivable that this animal ever walked on four legs or even had legs at all, as the evolutionists propose. The blowhole is located on top of their head while most mammals have their nostrils on their face, which is a large difference. The blowhole location on top is not connected to the mouth and allows the whale to open its mouth and eat in the water without getting water in its nose. This is another feature that evolutionists must explain. Most mammals' nose and mouth are connected.

Whale skin is much different than mammal skin, as whale skin does not have hair or sweat glands but has much fat for insulation in the cold waters. This fat layer, or blubber, is up to 11 inches thick. Whales also have a much larger lung capacity that allows them to stay underwater longer than humans. The skeleton of a whale is significantly different than land mammals. The whale rib cage is also flexible to allow for water pressure changes during dives. The whale heart is powerful and can also adjust to pressure changes. The whale's lungs are also designed to collapse safely under pressure and is important to whales that dive deep into the ocean water. The whale's entire body was designed to adjust to pressure changes in the water. In other words, the whale's body was designed for the deep ocean environment and did not evolve from a land mammal.

Arguably the most unique feature of whales is their natural sonar system, which enables the whales to emit signals and listen to the echoes of these signals as they bounce off of objects and come back toward their bodies and ultimately to their brain for interpretation. This sonar system is used for navigation and for hunting. How long would this sonar system take to evolve if possible? Another unique feature of whales is their sleep patterns. Specifically, whales are known to sleep with part of their brains still conscious in order to prevent drowning. How could that evolve over time?

The creation model describes life forms appearing suddenly on Earth fully formed with no evolution from simpler forms of life or radical changes in anatomy that evolutionists propose. The unique characteristics of whales show and point toward a unique design and a special creation for these sea creatures.
